The only way to get to the island is on a privately run passenger ferry that departs from Southport on the hour. Once ashore, guests can rent bicycles or electric golf carts to traverse the island, as there are no cars allowed on the island. The private ferry service also carries the supplies and equipment needed for vacationers to fully enjoy the resort-style amenities of the island.
While most of the island remains nicely isolated and quiet, there is a slight hub of activity near the ferry docks where many inns are located. This area is also where visitors will find restaurants, watersports companies and gift shops.
