Dakota Johnson Is The Most Recent Lovelorn Heroine In Jane Austen’s “Persuasion.”

Because everything is spinning and make no sense lately, I want to do whatever I can to create some sense of stability in my life. Part of my strategy to keep everything balanced is keeping my consumption of media under control. There are a number of options for entertainment, and I don’t have to pick only one of them.

‘Persuasion’

I’m not the biggest Jane Austen fan, but “Persuasion” looks promising. This new adaptation of Austen’s novel centers on an unconforming woman with modern sensibilities, who must find a way to forgive her one who got away. Dakota Johnson stars as Anne Elliot, with “Crazy Rich Asians” star Henry Golding also costarring. The movie starts streaming Friday on Netflix.

‘Forever Summer: Hamptons’

A new reality series set in the Hamptons, a tony community on New York’s Long Island, is centered around a group of college students who work at a restaurant during the day and party the summer nights away. “Forever Summer: Hamptons” starts streaming Friday on Amazon Prime.

‘Girl in the Picture’

Netflix’s latest true-crime documentary, Girl in the Picture, follows the mysterious death of 20-year-old Tonya Hughes. The Oklahoma native was killed by a hit-and-run driver in 1990, but who was she? And was she murdered? Netflix continues its reputation for disturbing yet absorbing true-crime projects with this investigation, which is streaming now.
