The city of Sanya on China's Hainan island has been placed in lockdown after an outbreak of Covid-19, a contagious virus that causes respiratory problems. People's movements in the city were restricted and public transportation suspended on Saturday morning, authorities said. Around 80,000 tourists were stranded in Sanya as of Friday evening, according to deputy mayor He Shigang.
